Phil Earle's Visit to Balshaw's
We were delighted to welcome popular children’s author Phil Earle to school on Monday 4th November.
Year 7 Boys Progress in the Lancashire Cup
On Tuesday 10th December, our Year 7 boys’ football team played in the next stage of the Lancashire Cup. They beat Unity College with an impressive 4-0 result.

The story, written by Phil Earle, centres around a boy with little to no family left other than his Grandma, who sent him off to London.
Celebrating Black History Month
As part of celebrating "Black History Month" we were fortunate to have Adrian Murrell kindly visit school to offer us an insight into the Windrush generation and his experiences as a young Black man growing up in Britain and the experiences of his parents.
Fabulous Football!
On Monday 9th December, some of our Year 7 boys were taken to represent Balshaw’s at a B-team football tournament, at Penwortham Priory.
Christmas Family Fun Night
We would like to thank everyone who came along to our Balshaw's Association PTA Christmas Family Fun Night on Thursday 5th December.
Lancashire Netball Tournament
Our U14 Netball team competed in a Lancashire tournament on 12th November at Stonyhurst College.
Bedrock Achievements - November 2024
Congratulations to Mrs Henderson’s English group (9X/En3) who are this month’s BEDROCK ACHIEVEMENT CHAMPIONS! Also to Mr Caddle’s English group (7W) for making the most progress this month.
Memorial Candlelight Service
On Monday 2nd December, we held a multi-faith event in school, that celebrated the power of light as a universal symbol of hope and remembered those who are dear to us.
Careers Fair 2024
We were delighted to host a successful Careers Fair on Thursday 21st November 2024. This event was able to bring guidance from Sixth Form Colleges, Apprenticeship providers and future employers under one roof at Balshaw’s to give a high quality of advice to our students about the next steps on their progression from school.
Year 8 UCLan Trip – October 2024
In October 2024, a group of Year 8 students were delighted to go on a trip to UCLan to discover more about Science.
