On Thursday 18th May, 7 of our Year 7 boys along with 7 of our Year 7 girls, from the respective school football teams, took part in the Year 7 Rotary Cup Tournament at UCLan Sports Arena.

The Year 7 girls found themselves in a tough league of 5 teams, where they won 1, drew 1 and lost 2, finishing with a total of 4 points out of a possible 12, just missing out on a 3rd place finish which would have put them into the Quarter Finals. The girls were in great spirits all day and really enjoyed the experience they were given.

The Year 7 boys also found themselves in a tough league of 6 teams, finding themselves against 2 schools they have played in different competitions this year and losing all 3 games against the respective two, All Hallows and Holy Cross. The team went on to win 2, drew 2 and lost 1, finishing with a total of 8 points and qualified for the quarter finals as a joint highest 3rd place team, beating All Hallows 1-0 and drawing 0-0 with Holy Cross. They faced Central Lancs in the Quarter-Final, where they dominated the game and if not for the opposition goalkeeper, the score line could have been more than the 1-0 victory they got. They played Southlands from Chorley in the semi finals and were unlucky not to go 1-0 and potentially 2-0 up before Southlands scored there first and went on to win 3-0, with their 3rd goal being an unstoppable free kick from near the corner flag. Southlands went on to win the competition, beating Archbishop Temple in the final.

Congratulations to all the players for great achievements throughout the day!
