In respect of Remembrance Day on Friday 11th November, our students and staff took part in assemblies and a church service. Three of our cadets laid a wreath at the War Memorial after the service on behalf of Balshaw’s. At 11am a silence was observed throughout the school.

We were delighted to welcome former Balshavian Elsie Duckworth and her daughter Gill Jollie to school on Friday. Elsie spoke to a group of students about being a young person during World War II and what life was like. The students were thrilled to meet Elise and she really enjoyed speaking to them and commented on how lovely the students were. Elsie was also reminiscing about being a student here in the 1940s.

A number of our students came to school in their cadet uniforms and they looked incredibly smart and proud.

Our Senior Student Leadership Team have been helping with poppy sales during their break and lunch time for a number of weeks and we thank them for their time and thank everyone who donated money for the Royal British Legion. One of our members of staff made crocheted poppies and money raised will also be donated to the Royal British Legion.

Here are some photographs from the day:
