Former Head Boy, Sir John Lawton, presented the prizes and certificates at our annual Award Presentation Evening on Thursday 21st November 2019.

This was the first visit to Balshaw’s since he presented the prizes at Speech Night in the mid-seventies. He was again accompanied by his wife, Lady Dorothy Lawton, who was Head Girl at Balshaw’s in the sixties.

Sir John spoke passionately about the impact of climate change, having been until recently, Chair of the Royal Commission of Environmental Pollution and Head of the National Environment Research Council.

We thank Sir John and Lady Dorothy for joining us for this lovely evening of celebration.

Please see the photograph below that was taken on the evening, showing Steve Haycocks (Headteacher), Sir John Lawton, Lady Dorothy Lawton, the Mayor and Mayoress of South Ribble and Keith Woodcock (Chair of Governors).
