Kyo Tanner has had an amazing year so far with his swimming achievements. Kyo has a very busy training schedule and needs to fit in his training sessions around his School day. Kyo used to swim for the Leyland Barracudas ASC and now swims with Preston Swimming Club. He trains before and after School, during the weekend and even in the holidays!
His training has really paid off as in February and March this year Kyo took part in the Lancashire County Championships. During this time Kyo achieved 16 qualifying times and gained an incredible number of medals, as shown below:
- 50m Freestyle
- 100m Freestyle
- 200m Freestyle
- 400m Freestyle
- 100m Backstroke
- 200m Backstroke
- 400m Individual Medley
- 200m Individual Medley
- 50m Backstroke
- 50m Butterfly
- 100m Butterfly
- 200m Butterfly
Kyo has also qualified for 16 events in the North West Regional Summer Championships which he will take part in during May and early June this year.
He is working toward to get invitations to English National Championships and British National Championship.
Last year Kyo made it to British Nationals with the qualifying times of 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle and 400m freestyle and he came 5th in the finals in 100m freestyle. This meant that he was the 4th fastest in Britain in 2014.
In the current British rankings, he is the fastest in 50m freestyle event.
During the recent Bank Holiday weekend in May Kyo achieved several personal best times at the open meet in Manchester.
