On Saturday the 25th January, Mr Melling, our Head Boy and Girl, attend a wreath laying in service in Astley Park in Chorley, to help commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp.

Luke and Hannah laid the wreath on behalf of the Governors, Staff and Students of Balshaw's at the war memorial, along with representatives of other South Ribble schools.

Later, Luke and Hannah, lit a candle in Chorley Town Hall, as an act of remembrance of the other genocides that have happened since the Holocaust and in particular the one in Darfur that is still happening today.

There have also been whole school assemblies for Holocaust Memorial Day and on Monday 27th January the whole school will be observing a minutes silence and time will be given to Students for reflection and to write their thoughts.
