7 – 13 February 2022

We are very proud to be supporting Children’s Mental Health week from 7th to 13th February 2022.

This is a really important week and one that we look forward to immensely.

Tutor groups will be carrying out activities in tutor time, with the theme of CMH Week being 'Growing Together'.

Mrs Seedall will be sending daily blogs to students' school email, to give them inspiration throughout the week and she, along with Mr O'Neill may have a surprise or two up their sleeves!

Happy Thursday!

We hope you are well and enjoying our daily Growth Stories.

Today, we would like you to listen to Mandip Gill, who you may recognise from Hollyoaks and Doctor Who. She is a great example of showing resilience to get to where you want to be in the end. She talks about loss, growth, friendship and positive mental attitude.

We thank all our tutor groups who have done a great job with our growth activity. We must mention Mr O'Neill's tutor group who were first to hand in their creations and what a wonderful effort they have put in, showing brilliant examples of growth through Maslow's Hierarchy!

We will be putting a selection on display very soon!!

Happy Wednesday!

Good morning, everyone!

Happy Wednesday! Please find below today's 'Growth Story' from the remarkable Jacob Anderson, to read out in tutor this morning.

I have also attached the information about Maslow's Hierarchy of need, just in case you would like to run through it again in your tutor group. Please keep those bubbles coming in. They will look great on our display, celebrating the week.

For a child to be successful in school, they need to be well fed, sleeping well, feeling safe at home and have confidence in themselves. When these are achieved they can reach their full potential 'self actualisation'. Maslow created a pyramid to show this growth and you are going to fill in the speech bubbles, to show how you meet each need. They are:

So, for example, to meet physiological need, you could write - 'Get 8 hours sleep a night' or 'Eat a well balanced diet', 'Drink plenty of water'... To meet Safety 'be aware of safe internet usage', be home when your parents/carers ask', 'always tell people at home where you are', Love/Belonging 'Enjoy healthy friendships', 'Be Kind', 'Have fun with others', 'Spend quality time with family', Esteem 'Working hard in school', 'celebrating small wins', 'participating in self care', 'celebrating individuality', 'enjoy being different', Self Actualisation 'Reach your full potential, 'be the best version of you', 'trying your best at all times'.
