16 October – 13 November 2019, 2.00pm

We are very excited to announce that author Gill Lewis will be visiting school on Wednesday 13th November.

Gill Lewis became a vet and her work took her from the wilds of Africa to the frozen lands of the Arctic…

When Gill had children, inspired by their story books, she went back to university to study Writing for Young People where she learned how to craft her stories. Not long after finishing her first book, Sky Hawk, she was fortunate enough to find an agent and then a publisher. Her route into storytelling is often through sketching the characters and scenes from the stories before starting to write them.

Gill will visit us to talk about her work and hopefully inspire other budding writers and storytellers! Her 2017 novel, Sky Dancer, was chosen by the school for all our Year 7 students to read and its issues (moorland fires, grouse shooting and the decline of the Hen Harrier) are especially pertinent to Lancashire and the North West.

We are really looking forward to welcoming Gill to Balshaw’s for what will be a very exciting event.

You can see more information about Gill Lewis on her website here.
