Balshaw’s Church of England High School

Balshaw’s U16s Athletics Team are Champions!

14 May 2015

On Thursday 7th May our U16s Athletics team travelled to Preston Sports Arena for the South Ribble Athletics competition. We had a number of injuries and a few pupils unable to take part, due to other reasons, however we were able to put a team together that could hopefully compete.

Our team were superb across the board on the night finishing in the top three in almost every event. Neve Steel won the girls javelin, Ben Milnes won the boys 100m, Jordan Darr won the boys 400m and Long Jump setting a new South Ribble record in the 400m. Our boys 4x100m relay team consisting of Ben Milnes, Jordan Darr, Jack Mcloughlin and Jack Mcitterick won the event and also set a new South Ribble record in the process.

There were a number of other brilliant performances from every member of the team with a range of second and third places.

The Boys team finished in first position and the girls narrowly missed out on first finishing second which was a fantastic result. With all the points combined Balshaws came out as overall winners!!

A huge well done to every pupil who represented the school, particularly to our Year 11 pupils who leave as Champions!
