Balshaw’s Girls Success in Lady Taverner’s Cricket Tournament

24 February 2015

Another successful sporting event for our Pupils.

Thank you to Rachel Bowles, one of our Year 10 Pupil, wrote the following article about their exciting day at the cricket…….!

“On Friday 6th February Balshaw’s High School took part in the girls Lady Taverner’s cricket tournament. Two teams ranging from Year 7-10 represented Balshaw’s proudly.

The Year 7 and 8 teams were first, after a shaky start and a loss of their first match they went on to win their next two comfortably through teamwork, confidence and 1 or 2 phenomenal catches from Lauren Hall. Now came the agonizing wait for the results, 3 our of 4 teams had both won two games and lost 1 so it came down to the amount of runs scored….With well over 200 runs Balshaw’s Year 7 and 8 girls teams won.

In the afternoon, it was the Year 9 and 10 team’s turn. With their bowlers bowling well the opposing batters struggled to score runs and with great batters on their team Balshaw’s won all 3 games cruising through to the next round.

This meant both teams had soared to victory, advancing to the next round. Well done girls!

A big thank you to Miss Gladki for organising the teams and travel and Miss Jackson for her supervision and great support throughout the whole day.

A great day!”
