Balshaw’s Church of England High School

Interhouse Cross Country 2014

15 November 2014

This year our Interhouse Cross Country competition had to be put back a few weeks due to very poor weather on the original date. A new date was set as 18th November but with the cold nights creeping in I did not think we would beat last years turn out of 400 pupils!!

I was very wrong! We had an absolutely amazing 620 pupils stay after school to brave the cold and compete for their House! The fact that well over 2/3rds of our school population took part shows what a good and competitive school Balshaws is and every pupil who took part should be very proud of their achievement.

We had some amazing runners from those that finished in the top 10, to those for whom running is not one of their strengths but they turned up and ran unbelievably well to complete a tough cross country course. Everyone contributed to a fantastic event.

We also had a large number of staff give up their time to brave the cold and help as marshals and cheer pupils along the way. Thank you.

Well done to everyone involved #TEAMBALSHAWS!!
