Balshaw’s Church of England High School

Interschool Bridge Building

28 March 2014

As part of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) week for Balshaw’s a new interschool bridge building competition was organised. All schools in South Ribble and Chorley were invited. The afternoon was filled with creativity and excitement as pupils had to design, make and work out accounts for a bridge build. The only materials to be used were newspaper and sticky tape. Their challenge was to design a bridge to span one metre for a remote control car to cross and strong enough to hold as many books as possible. There were some fantastic designs and the teams worked really hard together. The winning team in this fierce battle were from Worden High School. Their design showed a super build and they had budgeted well for all costs. A fun time was had by all and we hope to make this an annual event!
